Pre-Season Tips – Week 4: Plan your season ahead.

It can sometimes be a bit of a jungle working out what events, what level and with what particular CCI L in mind. I have always started with the targeted three day event and then worked out the plan backwards from that.

Regarding fitness (and in particular the horses aiming for long 3,4 an d 5 stars), the canter work starts up around three months in advance of the targeted 3 day. Fitness is key to securing a solid finish at a three day – nothing better then nailing cross-country day, there on having plenty of gas left in the tank for Show Jumping Sunday.
